The Midtone Lab apps come with manuals, and the manuals answer “how do I do this in the app”. They are not the right place for the other half of the story: why a curve looks the way it does, what a measurement is actually telling you, and what happens when the paper, the humidity, or the printer changes underneath you.
That is what these notes are for.
What will show up here
- Measurement notes. Step wedge readings, what the numbers mean, and where they stop being trustworthy.
- Digital negative workflow. Building, checking, and re-checking correction curves for platinum/palladium, kallitype, and friends.
- Release notes with context. Not just what changed in an app, but the printing problem that prompted the change.
If you are calibrating a process for the first time, the workflow guides are the better starting point — they are maintained as reference material, while the notes here are dated and specific.
